As an assistant, full time, and private competitive swim team coach; Dana Labrie has led many US and Canadian competitive swimming programs to success. In addition to coaching, she has had a fruitful competitive swimming life, and excelled in 100m Breaststroke, 100m & 200m Backstroke and 200m Individual Medley. She currently owns a digital marketing firm and lives in Whitestone Ontario.
As a young athlete Dana Labrie competed as a National Age Group swimmer in the 80s for nearly a decade and competed at the Canadian Olympic Trials in 100m backstroke. She swam for age group teams including, North York Aquatic Club, Ajax Aquatic Club and East York Aquatic Club. Additionally, she swam for her high school AY Jackson Secondary School in Willowdale and went on to winning OFSAA events.
Having competed at a National level in Canada, she was a standout in 100m backstroke and was recruited to Cleveland State University in 1989. Cleveland State competes in NCAA Division I and The Vikings have competed in NCAA Division I since 1972.
Dana capped her Cleveland State University swimming career as team captain by winning the 200-yard individual medley and finishing second in the 200 and 100 backstroke events at the Mid-Continent Championships (Horizon League). She finished swimming in 1994 as the holder of six University school records and was inducted into the Cleveland State University school Hall of Fame in 2005.
Dana Labrie graduated with her MBA from Cleveland State University and went onto be an assistant coach of the women’s Cleveland State University swim team. In addition to her coaching career at university, she has coached age group swimming (East York Swim Club), high school swimming (AY Jackson SS) and private competitive swimming (Cleveland) clubs.
